Energia has also suggested using space platforms for creating large orbital telecommunications stations. Three such stations could replace the entire fleet of telecommunications satellites, Lopota said.
"What we need is large antennas and energy, plus electronics. All of these technologies are known, he said.
For now, the only way to lower space pollution is "to reduce the number of launched satellites," he said.

　スペースデブリを減らすという観点からは、小さい衛星をたくさん打ち上げるよりでかいのを一つ上げて何でもやらせるほうが望ましい、ってな感じかな。もちろん、衛星しか作ったことのない会社よりもサリュート〜ミール〜ISSで培った技術のある自社のほうが優位だよ、というポジショントークもあるんだろうけど。通信衛星の代役からデブリ掃除のベースキャンプまで、何でもこなす万能で汎用の商用宇宙ステーション!!! なかなかにそそるものがあるよなぁ。
